Dad of biracial kids says he got a paternity test because his son didn’t look ‘half-white’

A father of biracial children has sparked furious outrage after revealing he took a paternity test behind his wife’s back because one of their children ‘doesn’t look half white’.

The unnamed 29-year-old man went to Reddit to share that he didn’t believe his son was his because he was “noticeably darker” than his 30-year-old black wife.

He explained that he couldn’t bond with his son because he didn’t look like him, which made him doubt and eventually got a secret paternity test.

The anonymous dad asked if he was wrong in a thread titled ‘Am I the A**hole?’ for taking a paternity test and hiding it from his wife.

The anonymous 29-year-old took to Reddit to share that he didn’t believe his son was his because he was “noticeably darker” than his 30-year-old black wife.

The message read: I am a 29 year old white male. My wife is 30 and black. We have two children, a three year old girl and a five year old boy.

“My wife got pregnant with our son early in our relationship. We were only together for a year. We got married because she got pregnant. Luckily for us, we’re actually happy.

“When my son was born, I accepted him as my own. However, I couldn’t help noticing how little he looked like me.

“He is definitely darker than my wife. He doesn’t look half white. My family and friends have asked me if I’m sure he’s mine. I had my doubts, but first I decided to trust my wife. I loved my son despite everything.

Two years after the birth of their son, the couple welcomed a baby girl.

When their daughter was born, the man felt a strong connection to her because he looked like her.

As soon as she was born, he had no doubts about her, however, this caused him to resent his son.

He continued, “When our son was two, my wife had our daughter. I had no doubt that she was mine.

The man explained that he grew more frustrated because he convinced himself that his wife had “betrayed” him and that he didn’t want to raise “someone else’s child”.

He said he had always tried to treat his son and daughter as “equals”, but he couldn’t continue.

The man added: ‘I realized I was starting to resent my son. It was unfair to have to take care of someone else’s child. I also started resenting my wife because I felt like she betrayed me.

He then decided to do a paternity test to calm his nerves. However, he decided not to tell his wife about it.

After discovering that his son was indeed his, his relationship with his boy and his wife improved.

‘I finally got a secret paternity test. I was relieved to learn that my son is actually mine. Genetics is weird.

“Anyway, that was four months ago and my relationship with my wife and son has improved dramatically. I feel a lot closer to him now that I know he is mine. My wife and I were so happy we were talking about a third child.

He then decided to do a paternity test to calm his nerves. However, he decided not to tell his wife

And while he was happy, the guilt of keeping a secret from his wife began to eat away at him. So he decided to confess to her.

He said: ‘I confessed to my wife that I had a paternity test. I hated keeping it a secret and thought she would understand how unlike he was to me. ‘

However, his wife had the complete opposite reaction and was filled with anger when she found out what he had done behind her back.

‘She freaked out. She asked me if I had ever doubted our daughter, and when I said no, she called me a racist. It’s not true. I didn’t prefer my daughter because of her whiter features, I just knew she was mine.

“She also said that I had made our son feel unloved for no reason all these years. I said it’s bull. Even when I didn’t believe my son was mine, I treated him like he was,” he added.

The 29-year-old has revealed his wife is now threatening to take the kids and move out.

He continued, “It’s been about a week and a half and I’m still on the couch. I was hoping she would have calmed down by now but things haven’t changed.

“She’s so mad at me for not trusting her and denying my son in her eyes because he’s black. She barely talks to me unless it’s about the kids. I don’t want to lose my family.

However, his wife had the complete opposite reaction and was filled with anger when she found out what he had done behind her back.

At the end of his message, he wondered if he was an “a**hole” for having “doubts”, adding that he did not understand why it was “destroying his marriage” and that his wife was “reacting from excessively”.
