A Czech law student was crowned Miss World 2024 in Mumbai today.

Krystyna Pyszková managed to beat 111 other champions from around the world for the prestigious title, with Lebanon’s Yasmina Zaytoun taking second place.

Dressed in a dazzling transparent diamond dress that highlighted her slender figure, the 23-year-old looked like a winner.

When the top eight consents remained, they were asked questions about topics discussed at the G20 Summit.

Krystyna was asked about issues surrounding women’s healthcare, to which she responded that we should eliminate the stigma and shame around menstruation.

The model stated that ‘being a woman is a gift’ and that periods should not be a taboo subject.

No Miss World pageant was held in 2023 due to scheduling issues and this year’s competition was held in Mumbai, India.

The blonde beauty smiled as she posed with other contestants on stage who were delighted to see their friend win the award.

She paired an angelic white feather cape with her long silver dress and donned a pair of diamond earrings.

Krystyna wore her golden hair in a curly blow-dry and opted for glam eye makeup and subtle pink lipstick.

Her predecessor wore a bright green dress and smiled as she placed her crown on Krystyna’s head.

In the competition, participants took part in a series of events including fitness, beauty, talent and public speaking.

Miss World is considered the oldest international beauty pageant, founded in the United Kingdom in 1951 by Eric Morley.

It was part of the Festival of Britain celebrations and was known as the Festival Bikini Contest.

The original purpose of the event was to promote the bikini, a fairly new addition to the fashion market.

Reportedly, it was the press that dubbed the contest, which many then considered rather immodest, “Miss World.”

Finally, to counter this, in 1980, the pageant introduced a new motto: Beauty with a Purpose.

Contestants were presented with additional intelligence and personality testing challenges.

But this was not enough for the BBC to continue broadcasting the event, abandoning it in 1984, after which it moved to various channels including ITV, Thames Television, Sky One and Channel 5.

Leaving the programme, BBC1 controller Michael Grade said: “I believe these quizzes no longer deserve national airtime. They are an anachronism in this age of equality and on the brink of offensive.”

Some of the pageant’s most notable alumni include successful actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who won in 2000.

This comes as Carolina Shiino, 26, took home first prize at the Miss Japan beauty pageant in January.

But his victory in the 56th edition of the award has sparked a fierce debate in Japan about what it means to be Japanese… because he was born in Ukraine.

Born in 1998, she moved to Japan at the age of five, where she was raised in Nagoya, after her Ukrainian mother remarried a Japanese man.

Some people have recognized her victory as a “sign of the times”, while others have said that she does not look like what a typical “Miss Japan” should be like.

Her victory comes after a similar debate broke out in 2015, when Ariana Miyamoto became the first biracial woman to be crowned Miss Japan.

Born to a Japanese mother and African-American father, Miyamoto’s victory also sparked a debate over whether a mixed-race person should be eligible.

Now, with the prize awarded to someone without Japanese ancestry, people are once again up in arms over the outcome of the contest.

However, after it emerged in a local Japanese magazine, Shukan Bunshan, that Ms Shino was having an affair with married doctor and influencer, Takuma Maeda, also known as Muscle Doctor, she quit.
