Cygnett phone charger sold at JB Hifi and Officeworks is urgently recalled over fire fears

A popular phone charger sold at major Australian retailers has been recalled over fears the product could catch fire if it overheats.

The Cygnett MagMove 5K dual magnet power bank has been urgently pulled from shelves after Product Safety Australia issued a recall notice.

The notice said there is a significant risk to consumers who could suffer burns if the wireless device’s battery overheats and catches fire.

Consumers who purchased the device were urged to stop using the power bank and return it to the place of purchase.

Five power bank models have been affected by the problem.

The affected models are CY456PBCHE, CY4631PBCHE, CY4615PBCHE, CY4620PBCHE and CY4626PBCHE.

The product was sold in Australia between September 2023 and March 2024 at several major retailers including JB-Hifi, Telstra, Optus and Harvey Norman.

Cygnett, a Melbourne-based company, produces a range of technology products, including phone chargers, charging cables and mobile phone holders.
