With the new update for Cyberpunk 2077 you can create even more stylish screenshots without an expensive graphics card.
Cyberpunk 2077 has turned the graphics screw again with update 1.62 – at least for owners of extremely powerful graphics cards. Thanks to the overdrive mode, the lighting is particularly chic with the help of path tracing. But if you are not equipped with a high-end PC, you can still use a few advantages of the update in photo mode.
The future of ray tracing
as Nvidia calls it, can currently only be fully experienced by a few players in Cyberpunk 2077. You need a GeForce RTX 40 series graphics card to run properly. You can find out exactly what path tracing and overdrive are all about in our article on the Cyberpunk 2077 update.
But you don’t need an expensive graphics card to experience at least part of the update – Your PC should have 8GB of VRAM. But then you can activate the path tracing setting in the photo mode and admire the play of lights from Night City – and of course also create really chic screenshots.
If you prefer to see the power of Overdrive Mode in moving images, then the following video will help you:

This is what the new Overdrive mode looks like in Cyberpunk 2077
of course is the future of ray tracing
but not yet narrated with the current version of path tracing, improvements are still to be made here as well. But it can definitely be seen now.
The players who have the necessary hardware also see this. GameStar user BBPrediger writes in one of his comments:
I’ve now played Cyberpunk 2077 1.62 with activated path tracing for 2 hours. It’s just awesome what makes the graphic reality. With the RTX4090 without problems. 72FPS with DLSS Quality and Path Tracing. Everything on high. Resolution 5120×1440.
luffy19 can also use the overdrive mode, but doesn’t quite reach the high frame rate of BBPRediger:
So I have an RTX 4090 with 64GB memory. For me the game runs with pathtracing and DLAA with almost 40FPS. But I have to say that everything is set to the highest quality and not performance. CD Projekt Red even recommends it with 128gb. Or so was their test system for it with 128gb.
Will you be checking out Photo Mode next time you’re in Night City, or don’t you care so much about the fancier effects? Or do you rarely take screenshots in video games anyway? What would you prefer for Cyberpunk 2077? Apart from the upcoming DLC Phantom Liberty of course. Write it to us in the comments!
