A Kentucky woman warned others to always check their receipts after she had a run-in with a golf club worker who allegedly added a 20 percent tip to her bill without telling her.

Jenna Simpson visited Keene Trace Golf Club on August 27 and purchased two soft drinks at a restaurant on the golf course called Champions Bar & Grill.

A receipt that he showed on his now viral TikTok. video revealed that the drinks alone cost $5.66. However, when he saw the waiter slide his credit card to the side, the total somehow skyrocketed to $7.20.

Since that seemed like too much to pay just the taxes, when the waiter asked Simpson if she wanted a receipt, she said yes. And he discovered that the numbers didn’t add up at all.

With taxes, your bill should have been $6.00. But Simpson quickly realized that 20 percent of that amount equals $1.20. That would add up to exactly $7.20, which made her suspect that the waiter had secretly tipped her.

Simpson said he returned to the bar and confronted the employee.

‘Was any advice added to this?’ he remembers asking, to which the server allegedly responded, “No, there’s a 20 percent service fee on credit cards.”

Simpson looked at the receipt again, which showed there was no service charge.

Still, businesses are only allowed to add a credit card surcharge of 1 to 4 percent, depending on Fortune.

Simpson then responded, “It would have been nice to know before I gave him my credit card because I would have preferred to pay cash and save my $1.20.”

Simpson then reveals the moment of her interaction with the worker that completely surprised her.

‘(The waiter) says…”Okay, do you want the tip back?” Simpson said.

This came as a complete shock, especially since he claimed that he had not previously received a receipt that would have allowed him to write down the tip amount.

Simpson’s receipt shows she never indicated she would tip or signed it.

When Simpson asked for his money back, he said the waiter reached into the cash drawer and gave him $2 because he didn’t have exact change.

‘That just tells me she’s guilty because why would you give me an extra 80 cents if you’re right?’ she said.

“So, I think he accidentally hit the 20 percent tip button or tried to trick me,” he added.

People who watched his video overwhelmingly agreed that it was unlikely to be an accident.

‘100% need to report to management. That’s not right,” one person wrote.

“That’s VERY illegal of them,” wrote another.

“Definitely just added a tip,” claimed a third.

‘Not bad and a great catch. She tried to steal a 100% tip,” said a fourth.

Another person questioned how the 20 percent charge didn’t appear on their bill. Simpson responded to the comment by saying, “Yeah, that’s exactly the first thing that caught my attention.”

DailyMail.com reached out to the current manager of the restaurant Simpson went to, but he did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Simpson published a update video where he showed the email he sent to management. She summarized her entire experience and informed them about the laws regarding credit card surcharges.

According to a screenshot Simpson showed, the restaurant manager allegedly responded and told him that guests needed to be presented with a ticket to add a tip.

According to the screenshot, the manager also stated that they pulled security footage of the incident and believed there was no robbery.

DailyMail.com has reached out to Simpson for comment.
