“Cultural mother” Lori Vallow’s missing children can hide in a bunker, her relatives say.
Lori is currently behind bars on charges of child neglect and desertion related to the disappearance of her daughter, 17-year-old Tylee Ryan, and her son, seven-year-old son Joshua ‘JJ’ Vallow, who has not been seen or heard since September 2019.
Lori’s mother Janice Cox and sister Summer Shiflet first broke their silence to defend her in an interview with CBS News fully broadcast on Saturday.
In a new clip from the interview, reporter Jonathan Vigliotti asked the women, “Do you think they’re in a bunker somewhere?”
“I think that’s possible,” Cox said, but she didn’t tell where she thought the kids were.
Lori Vallow’s mother Janice Cox said it is possible that the ‘cult’ mother’s missing children are hiding somewhere in a bunker during an interview with CBS News that will be fully broadcast on Saturday
Lori, 46, is accused of neglect and abandonment of children in connection with the disappearance of her daughter, 17-year-old Tylee Ryan, and her seven-year-old son, Joshua ‘JJ’ Vallow
Tylee and JJ disappeared in September, but were never reported missing by their mother
She and Shiflet also couldn’t explain why Lori has so far refused to collaborate with investigators trying to find out what happened to her children.
When asked about the matter, they answered at the same time, “Well, that’s a great question,” laughing at each other.
But the women insisted that Lori should not hurt any of her children.
“She has invested in those children all her life,” said Cox. “So we know there is another side to it. We don’t know what it is. But we know her. ‘
Tylee and JJ disappeared eight months ago in September, shortly after moving from Arizona to Rexburg, Idaho.
Investigators say Tylee was last seen hiking with her family in Yellowstone National Park on September 8. Meanwhile, all traces of JJ disappeared on September 23 – but Cox claims to have spoken to the missing seven-year-old by phone on October 1.
“I talked to him,” she said, before fainting, “he just answers the phone, you know, and he knows – you know, he knows who we are.”
Cox provided CBS News with a phone bill that she says shows the alleged conversation. Rexburg police have not yet returned a DailyMail.com request for comment on Cox’s claim.
In the same fall the two children disappeared, Lori married Doomsday author Chad Daybell for the fifth time. Chad’s 29-year-old wife, Tammy, had died a few weeks earlier.
Lori and Chad fled Idaho to Hawaii in late November, a day after police began asking questions about JJ and Tylee’s whereabouts.
Investigators say Tylee was last seen walking her family in Yellowstone National Park on September 8. Meanwhile, all traces of JJ disappeared on September 23 – but Cox claims to have spoken to the missing 7-year-old by phone on October 1
“I talked to him,” she said, before vaguely saying, “He just answers the phone, you know, and he knows – you know, he knows who we are.”
The authorities followed Lori and Chad later on January 25 in the city of Princeville, Kauai, and served the mother with a court order that required her to physically bring the children before the authorities in Idaho within five days.
After failing to do so, Lori was arrested on February 20 on an abandoned child charge and abandoned and then returned to Idaho, where she is held on $ 1 million bail.
Despite seemingly fleeing to Hawaii without JJ and Tylee, Cox insisted that Lori “never” uttered any grudge against her children or blamed them for the failure of her previous four marriages.
When asked why as a “loving grandmother” and “loving aunt” they hadn’t approached Lori to tell them where the children are, Shiflet replied, “She can’t tell us.
“She’s in jail. It is not – everything is included. So she’s not going to tell us, she can’t discuss the matter, “Shiflet said.
“I’m sure they didn’t hurt those kids,” Cox agreed.
The case of missing JJ and Tylee caught national attention when revelations that police were also investigating three mysterious deaths related to Lori and Chad, as well as family claims that the couple is a member of a dangerous doom cult.

During the same fall, the two children disappeared, Vallow married Chad Daybell (right) for the fifth time. Daybell’s 29-year-old wife, Tammy, had died a few weeks earlier
The first death associated with the case was Tammy Daybell. Her death was initially listed as a natural cause when Chad refused an autopsy. Many of Tammy’s friends have insisted that the 49-year-old be in good shape and doubted the original statement.
Authorities dug up Tammy’s body in December after they determined her death could be related to JJ and Tylee’s disappearance.
The results of the autopsy and toxicology tests have not yet been published.

The second death was that of Charles Vallow, Lori’s husband of more than a decade who filed for divorce from her for five months before being shot and murdered by her brother Alex on July 11, 2019.
Charles and Lori had argued when he picked up JJ, their adoptive son, from her home in Chandler, Arizona.
Alex intervened and fired two deadly shots into Charles’s chest.
Police initially determined that Alex was acting in self-defense, but the case was reopened with the search for JJ and Tylee, who had moved with their mother to Idaho, where Chad lived, in August.
An email from Phoenix police leaked earlier this month revealed investigators nearly charged Lori with Charles’s death.
Early December court documents indicated that Charles’s death was being investigated as “conspiracy murder.”
Less than two weeks later, Alex was found dead in Gilbert, Arizona, on December 12, the day after Tammy’s body was excavated.
His death, at the age of 51, is now under investigation while police are waiting for an autopsy to determine the cause.
An extra untimely death near Lori was unearthed this week: her older sister Stacey Lynne Cox Cope.
Stacey died in 1998 at the age of 31. The cause is unclear and it is not suggested that Lori was involved in her death.
Chad Daybell and his ‘sect’ maternal wife Lori Vallow are under investigation for the murder of his previous wife Tammy, new documents show. Tammy (photo with Chad) was found dead in their home in Idaho in suspicious circumstances in October
Four people with ties to Lori Vallow died prematurely (summit in court on March 6). Those dead are: Lori’s brother Alex Cox (left), her new husband Chad Daybell’s previous wife Tammy Daybell (second left), her fourth husband Charles Vallow (center), her third husband Joseph Ryan (second right). Her sister Stacey Cox Cope (right) died in 1998. It is not clear what caused Cope’s death

Vallow’s request to lower her bond from $ 1 million to between $ 100,000 and $ 250,000 was rejected by a judge in Idaho last week.
Prosecutors said prior to the proceedings that a reduction should only be considered by a judge if Vallow could bring the children up.
Vallow, who was wearing a face mask along with her prison uniform, had appeared in the largely empty courtroom in Idaho on Friday, while her lawyer argued for the reduced bond.
As part of his argument, Vallow’s attorney Mark Means asked the judge to consider a “more reasonable” bond amount than the current $ 1 million, given the economic situation caused by the corona virus, according to East Idaho News.
Means had filed a motion last month for a cut of the bond, arguing that he did not have enough opportunity to communicate confidentially with his client in prison.
Means’s request to cut the bond depended on his allegation that Madison County Detention Center officers had repeatedly secretly recorded his confidential telephone conversations with Vallow after assuring him that the recording device was turned off.
After more than two hours of arguments presented by Means and the prosecution, magistrate judge Michelle Mallard denied the request for a reduced bond by arguing that there was not enough evidence to support Means’s motion.
“I can’t find a good reason to cut the tire further than it already is,” said Mallard.
“I would advise Mr. Means to consult with local lawyers, who I am sure have come up with alternatives during this time … about ways to solve any virus problems in prison related to communicating with clients.”
The next day, FOX 10 reporter Justin Lum revealed that Vallow had asked Chad Daybell to determine if her two children had “light or dark ghosts” for nearly a year before they went missing.
Vallow has so far refused to collaborate with investigators on where her children are or what happened to them

On October 30, 2018, Daybell emailed Vallow in response to her request for “ family history documents. ” He posted a column on light and dark spirits and judged her relatives on it.
He wrote in his message to Vallow, “Current figures on Earth today at every estate level. These totals represent the ‘light spirits’. The “dark” has equal parts. ‘
He named Vallow’s 17-year-old Tylee as a ‘4.1 dark ghost’, while her seven-year-old son Joshua ‘JJ’ was determined to be ‘a light ghost, level 4.2’.
Vallow’s niece, Melani Pawlowski, also revealed that she has never seen her aunt’s two children since she moved next door to the family in Idaho and never questioned their whereabouts.
Pawlowski and her second husband, Ian, sat down with Dateline presenter Keith Morrison to discuss the twisted case, with the pair urging the public to reserve his judgment.
“I’d ask Lori [where the kids were]Pawlowski said. “In her teens, I was not close to Tylee. She was very independent, so when Lori said she was with friends, I just believed her.
“Eventually everything will be revealed and then we’ll know, but until then I can’t make a judgment,” she said.

Pawlowski has emerged as one of the key figures in the Lori affair, following reports that she joined her aunt’s doomsday cult.
Her estranged husband, Brandon Boudreaux, accused her of attempting to kill him in a drive-by shooting last fall, claiming that she knows where the missing children are but will not cooperate with the authorities. Melani rejected those claims.
“Melani essentially seemed to want to present that everything is fine,” Morrison told East Idaho News about the interview. “She pretended,” I have no problems at all. We all just did our own thing and everything that seemed suspicious was just a coincidence. ‘
“She is a sweet, very attractive young woman who looks at you with big eyes and says that it is absolutely the truth. Viewers can look at it and see what they think. ‘
Morrison tries to explain how Melani fits into the culture of judgment culture around Chad and Lori.
Earlier reports alleged that Melani thought Brandon had been possessed by a demon, and that Lori and Chad had told her they thought JJ and Tylee were “zombies.”
“There are all these people surrounding Chad and Lori who seem to be part of this group,” said Morrison.
“When you hear people talking seriously about evil spirits who inhabit their husbands or relatives, or people who become zombies and need to be eliminated, you are going to endure serious things.
“And those are the types of materials we’ve dealt with during this time.”
