The bone graft can come from the patient’s own body, from a donor or from a synthetic material. The surgeon may also use screws and rods to secure the bones.

In October, Jackie shared a photo of the massive wound, taken shortly after undergoing surgery for a spinal problem.

The Brazilian composer admitted that she had lost the ability to walk after the operation and had to relearn basic motor skills.

Until now, Jackie had not revealed any further details of her surgery, but admitted that the procedure left her bedridden.

She told her Instagram followers: ‘Random thought. It’s crazy to think that 3 months ago I was relearning how to walk and couldn’t get up.

“Physically and mentally I had a hard time, it took me forever to be okay with myself again, especially when it came to work and writing.”

And he added: ‘Our bodies are incredible and capable of a lot. Take a moment to be grateful for your support systems, your own willpower and strength, no matter what you are going through. (sic)

‘We all know it’s okay to not be okay all the time and we hope everyone looks after themselves as much as possible and takes moments to focus on physical and mental health.

‘Also, check on your friends. Sending you all health, hugs and love!’ (sic)

She hasn’t been afraid to show off her back scar, as she was recently seen sunbathing in a bikini on a superyacht with Cruz in Miami.

Since her operation and recovery, Jackie has been showing her love with David and Victoria Beckham’s youngest son Cruz, who is a decade younger than the star.

Cruz and Jackie, who was born in São Paulo, recently celebrated the New Year together in Brazil and spent the days of the trip on the beach enjoying traditional Brazilian food.

The teenager spent Christmas at his parents’ new £60million seafront mansion in Miami with his girlfriend Jackie, before heading to Rio de Janeiro to ring in the new year.

Jackie appears to have been accepted into the Beckham clan despite online chatter about her 10-year age difference with Cruz.

The singer joined the teen in September to support Victoria at her fashion show during Paris Fashion Week.

She was seen numerous times with the Beckhams during Fashion Week and even wore one of Victoria’s elegant dresses at their show.

After the runway presentation, she took to Instagram to gush, “The most beautiful show and the most beautiful dress.” Congratulations @victoriabeckham.’

Cruz recently revealed how in love he is with Jackie, while sharing a tribute to the singer to celebrate her 29th birthday.

Jackie hasn't been afraid to show off her scar, as she notably left it on display while relaxing with her boyfriend Cruz while aboard their family's superyacht in Miami in October.

She posted a photo of the brunette beauty waiting to blow out her birthday candles on her Instagram Story.

“Happy birthday xx, love you,” she captioned.

It comes after Cruz most recently revealed his questionable choice of pizza bread topping in an Instagram post while on holiday with girlfriend Jackie.

The teen could be seen squeezing a melted Milkybar out of its package and onto a flatbread.

A later video showed him sitting in front of the fire during the break with his Brazilian-German songwriter girlfriend, with the caption: “I’m in no way cut out for this cold.”

What is a spinal fusion?

Spinal fusion is a surgical procedure that joins two or more vertebrae in the spine to treat severe back pain, correct problems, and make the spine more stable.

The NHS will only fund spinal fusion surgery for patients who meet certain criteria.

During the procedure, an orthopedic or neurosurgeon places a bone graft in the space between the vertebrae to prevent excessive movement.

The bone graft can come from the patient’s own body, from a donor or from a synthetic material. The surgeon may also use screws and rods to secure the bones.

Spinal fusion can help with conditions such as:

– Spondylolisthesis

– Back pain that does not respond to other treatments.

– Spinal instability

– Scoliosis

– Fractures

– Tumors
