Taneka Starr, from Tasmania, was swimming with 80 other people at the falls when she heard the commotion.
“People on the observation deck were yelling at us to get out of the water, which we all did,” he told NT News.
“(It was) terrifying.”
Dean McAdam, director of the Northern Australian Parks Department of Environment, Parks and Water Safety, said rangers had confirmed the man was attacked by a saltwater crocodile.
‘The crocodile is estimated to be about 2 m long. Rangers are working with the Crocodile Management Team to remove the animal. Then more crocodile studies will be done before reopening,” he said.
The popular swimming spot has been closed and people are urged not to enter the water.
