Ronaldo is accused of raping the American model Kathryn Mayorga after a night together in a Las Vegas nightclub in June 2009.
His older brother, Hugo Aveiro, 43, who still lives in the island's capital, Funchal, and runs the CR7 Museum, has ruled out the accusations, which arose shortly after Ronaldo's transfer of 100 million pounds from Real Madrid to Juventus during the summer.
& # 39; My brother is a hero in Madeira. "It has a big impact here because he has done a lot for the island," Aveiro told The Times.
& # 39; Around half a million people go to the [CR7] museum every year. My brother usually returns for New Year's Eve because it is our mother's birthday, there are many fireworks, although this year I could be here or in Dubai.
& # 39; People here are defensive of him because everyone knows him. Local news only says good things and people will be behind it. It is an icon of Madeira.
When asked if the claims are garbage, Aveiro replied: "Yes, many."
