In response, Ronaldo put his hand to his ear before gesturing towards his crotch with the signal apparently directed at the fans present.

According to a report by The TelegraphSaudi newspaper Asharq al-Awsat said the national football federation (SAFF) has since opened an investigation into the incident.

In his second season in Saudi Arabia, the Portuguese star has maintained his prolific record in front of goal and currently sits first in the league’s scoring charts.

Sunday’s penalty brought his tally for the season to 22 in 20 appearances.

However, Al-Nassr remains four points behind unbeaten Al-Hilal in the league standings.
