A young woman has shared the disturbing moment when she caught a ‘creepy’ man taking pictures of her sunbathing on a Melbourne beach.

Ruby Dow, 21, was sunbathing in the Bayside Area this weekend when an unwelcome bystander pulled out his phone and started sniffing.

Mrs. Dow decided to give the man a taste of his own medicine and pulled out her phone to start recording, prompting the onlooker to quickly turn around.

“I didn’t pull out my camera until I realized what he was doing… the second I did, he turned and left,” she explained in the video’s comments.

Dow told the Daily Mail Australia that she posted the images on TikTok to remind other young women on the beach to stay vigilant.

“My intention was to post this incident to remind other women not to take their safety for granted, especially when going out alone,” she said.

Viewers quickly sympathized with the 21-year-old in the comments, while others shared their own experiences of scary encounters.

‘I hate that this happened! Some people just need to keep to themselves,” said one.

“I had an old buzzard chase me the last time I went alone, it sucks so much you can’t sit on the beach and just enjoy it,” a second woman commented.

“Oh honey, I’m so sorry this happened to you! This has happened to me before so I know exactly how scary it feels,” shared a third.

“Yeah, mind you, there was someone in the bushes on the beach taking pictures of my mom,” a fourth recalled.
