“I have a slightly different lipstick application trick for you this morning,” Hughes began the video.

“We’re not going to apply our lipstick with that part of the bullet,” she explained, pointing to the tip of the lipstick as she tilted it to the side.

She explained that when you applied your lipstick this way, you had “reduced visibility in the actual lip line.”

“However, when you rotate the bullet, that angle allows you to see everything a little better,” the makeup artist continued.

She turned the lipstick so that the back of the bullet was facing her lips.

Using the back of the lipstick, she colored the left side of her upper lip.

This technique allowed him to do it in a super controlled and precise way.

To show a comparison, she also applied lipstick to the right side of her upper lip using the traditional lipstick application method.

Instead, Hughes turned the back of the lipstick bullet toward her lips, explaining that this would result in a more precise application.

  • Instead of using lipstick with the bullet facing forward, she suggests turning it upside down.
  • She recommends applying lipstick using the back of the bullet.

“This, to me, feels more cumbersome, and it’s easy for me to go beyond the lip line, compared to when I do this, I have more control,” she explained.

She then went on to apply the mauve color to her lower lip.

“And for the bottom lip, honestly, the same thing,” Hughes continued, while applying lipstick, which was MAC Cosmetics brand in the color Whirl.

“Just go first where the lip opens instead of the lip line, and then pretty much the same, it’s better when you use the tip of the bullet.”

The finished product?

A perfectly stunning and evenly applied lip.

“Sit me down and let me know what it’s like or let me know what you think,” Hughes concluded.

In the comments section, many were apparently impressed by the trick or were already doing it themselves.
