Last week, a proposal to enroll 70 older girls in years 11 and 12 from 2023 was presented to the Cranbrook school community during several town hall information meetings.

The proposal has the backing of School Principal Nicholas Sampson and Mr. Farquhar.

Some concerned parents have roundly rejected it, while Ms Jackson has stirred the pot by taking the discussion to a Year Six Whatsapp group chat, daily telegraph informed.

‘Hello everyone. Reminder: tonight is the Cranbrook Community Forum on Coeducational Education,’ he wrote last Monday.

‘According to our informal survey, the vast majority of parents are in favor of coeducational education and assume tonight’s consultation is about ‘how’.

‘However, from our dealings with the school board, tonight’s session is actually ‘if’ coeducational education should happen at all.

“So if you’re a strong supporter of coeducational education, your attendance is needed tonight (in person or virtual) to ensure it happens.”

His message elicited a frosty response from one of the parents who was adamantly opposed to any change.

‘Hello everyone. Unfortunately there are many families who strongly oppose this proposal and feel betrayed by it,’ they wrote.

Your voice also deserves to be heard. Please be sure to attend and let your voice be heard.

‘The decision to be mixed is not finalized and you are welcome to oppose it.’

“This platform will no longer be used to lobby for or against the proposal.”

Mr. Farquhar and Ms. Jackson have shown that they are prepared to sponsor scholarships for girl students who are interested in attending the prestigious school.
