The body of a man was found in a swamp near a park in a Melbourne housing estate.
The grim discovery was made near Solar Close in Cranbourne East, south-east of the city, shortly before 2pm on Thursday.
The section of the park has been cordoned off as police establish a crime scene.
Detectives and forensic officers remained at the scene on Thursday night.
SES teams have also been deployed to assist with the investigation.
The man has not yet been formally identified.

“The circumstances of his death are yet to be determined. Further information will be provided as the matter develops,” the police statement said.
Police were reportedly alerted to a missing person earlier in the day, Nine News reported.
