It’s official: Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is ready for 2024.

Team owner Jerry Jones said in his weekly radio spot on 105.3 The Fan that Prescott is scheduled to undergo hamstring surgery on Wednesday and will miss the rest of the season.

Starting in Week 11, the Cowboys will rely on backup quarterbacks Cooper Rush and Trey Lance to lead them for the remainder of the season.

This is unpleasant but not unexpected news for the Cowboys and their fans. Prescott, 31, injured his hamstring in Dallas’ 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9, going down late in the third quarter with what he thought was just a “tight” muscle. hamstring. But when he tried to put weight on him during the next play, he said he could barely walk.

He was replaced by Rush, who then started the Cowboys’ Week 10 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. That was a demoralizing 34-6 loss that caused drama between star linebacker Micah Parsons and head coach Mike McCarthy, who will almost certainly be looking for a new job at the end of the season.

The Cowboys are third in the NFC East with a 3-6 record. They remain ahead of the New York Giants 2-8, but with the Eagles in first place at 7-2 and the Washington Commanders in second place at 7-3, Dallas’ season is essentially over.
