The actress, 37, best known for her portrayal of Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl, was seen posing for pictures with fans outside the Burleigh Pavilion bar in Burleigh Heads.

One enthusiastic fan took to TikTok to share a smiling photo of himself with the star as he detailed how they met her during a night out.

Ilayda Ozcan explained how she and her friend were enjoying a night out in the city when they saw the star, before the bouncers urged her to say hello.

She detailed: “I went to the doorman and said, ‘Is that her?’, and they said, ‘Yes, go up to her.'”

She then admitted that Leighton saw them looking and asked them if they wanted a photograph, before they had a chance to approach her.

Her friend said while laughing, ‘I could literally see us looking at her!’

Ilayda said she asked Leighton what she was doing in Australia, to which she replied that she was filming.

At the end of the video, he candidly admitted: ‘But we’ve never seen Gossip Girl!’

The video sent fans into a tailspin as fans of The CW show were quick to take to the comments to share their jealousy.

One fan told how they had also seen her in Australia, writing: “I sat opposite her on Justin Lane on Saturday night.” At first I wasn’t sure if it was her and now I came across your video!!!!’

Leighton is in Queensland filming his upcoming comedy-drama series Good Cop/Bad Cop.

The eight-part Stan series has been created by Will & Grace writer John Quaintance and will also star Luke Cook and Clancy Brown.

The procedural comedy drama follows Lou (Leighton) and Henry (Luke), a duo of brother detectives working in a small police force in the Pacific Northwest.

They are forced to facecolorful residents, lack of resources, and a complex family dynamic with their police chief, Big Hank (Clancy), who is also his father.
