Couple Reveals Temporary Divorce Left Them With $100,000 In Debt

A California couple has revealed they are locked into paying off their $100,000 divorce, even though they stayed married and renewed their vows.

Brittany Jade, known as @brittanyjade___ on TikTok, has more than two million followers thanks to her candid videos about her relationship with her husband Wyland and their three children.

In a recent video, she explained that she was the one who wanted a divorce, and while Wyland was against it, he filed first. They have since reconnected and are now “married on $100k in debt.”

“Our happily ever after is paying off a divorce we never got,” she joked in the caption. “But for the record, we ALMOST paid off (my side)!”

The viral TikTok has been viewed more than 6.7 million times and the commentators had many questions for them.

Most people wanted to know why their divorce was so expensive, and one person asked, ‘What kind of divorce costs $100k?!’

Brittany, who has been sober for nearly two years, explained in the comments that their separation was precious because it “wasn’t mutual” and they fought for their children too.

She and her husband had been married for nine years when they separated and filed for divorce for a year and a half.

“I struggled a lot with addiction, so there were restraining orders and a huge custody battle,” she wrote.

Brittany added that their lawyers were “not angry” that they ended up staying married “because they got paid for everything anyway”.

While some people were shocked at the cost, others were happy that they had found their way back to each other and were a family again.

‘I love you happily ever after! The silver lining is paying off, I’ve taught you all how to grow and have a healthy marriage,” commented one person.

“Hey, don’t feel bad,” another added. ‘My parents divorced and remarried within a few years. My aunt did the same.’

Another said, “Everything is going as it should… this obviously took an expensive lesson.”

Brittany shared in the comments that the money she earns from her viral TikTok videos helps her pay off their debt.

While on the street, they both relapsed and broke up. She flew home to Wisconsin, and Wyland followed her there a few days later. They married in a frugal wedding at age 22 and moved back to California to start their family.

However, she said that after they welcomed their twins, their relationship became “extremely toxic.” She has moved and they have filed for divorce.

After working on themselves separately for over a year, they got back together and found that they had both changed.

“Today our family of five is back together and stronger than ever,” she wrote.

Some of the followers wanted to know if they ever dated other people or slept with other people when they were divorced, which they did.

“We had both accepted that our marriage was over and saw other people,” Brittany explained in another… video. “That was one of the hardest things to get back together.

“We asked each other what we wanted to know (which wasn’t much) and nothing more,” she continued. “We both agreed not to bring up any of those relationships going forward. We have set boundaries and do not communicate with them.’
