Alisha and Nate’s romantic getaway turned into a horrific experience as they were forced to “take refuge” in the middle of the storm as wine glasses shattered and plates flew around them.
The couple went viral on social media detailing the terrifying and disappointing experience.
Alisha said: “We could see from our balcony that the overcast skies were getting worse, the water was getting very rough and we were looking in the direction we were going.
“Very quickly, the weather deteriorated, the rain was pouring down, the ship was pitching. It was around this time that I believe an announcement was made that we were in a storm and needed to “find shelter”.
Once the lovebirds arrived in their bedroom, chaos ensued and the couple were left terrified as they saw glass shattering.
She added: “Soon our room was taking on water, coming under our balcony door. A wine glass slipped off the vanity and shattered, everything falling over.
“So we went down to see what was happening and there was broken glass everywhere. Bars were closed as alcohol bottles and glasses were also broken.
The couple trembled in fear as they saw people screaming and even putting on life jackets.
Meanwhile, water flooded their room.

“We even saw women wearing their life jackets climbing the stairs from the lower decks… people were scared.
“And at that point, there was about three feet of water in our room,” she said.
The cruise departed Galveston, Texas, on January 22, with plans to head to Costa Maya, Mexico, then Cozumel, before returning to Galveston five days later.
Unfortunately, cruise staff announced that the ship would not be able to dock in Costa Maya because it was too dangerous and would be heading directly to Cozumel.
On the way back, two storms broke out.
Alisha and Nate finally arrived home safely.
However, they were not happy with the experience or the money spent.
Alisha added: “It would have been worth it if we actually had an enjoyable holiday. Instead, we paid a lot of money to stress away from home.
