Couple assaulted outside liquor store ‘over Bud Light purchase’

Date:

A man and a woman were reportedly assaulted and homophobic slurs were shouted at them when three men believed they were buying Bud Light beers.

The suspects are charged with shouting anti-gay remarks and physically assaulting shoppers outside the liquor store in Vaughan, Ontario.

Police are now investigating the “disturbing hate-driven” attacks.

Bud Light’s disastrous marketing campaign with trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney has sent shockwaves across the US – and now it seems the steadfast boycott has spread to Canada.

One of the suspects approached the 26-year-old man, thinking he was buying the now-controversial beer, and made derogatory remarks to him.

A woman, 27, then stepped between them, after which she was attacked outside the LCBO store on Jane Street and Major Mackenzie Drive West.

Police have released a photo of one of the suspects, described as a 25 to 35-year-old, slim build man with short, cropped hair, a tattoo on his jawline and tattoos on both hands

At that point, police suspected that the two other suspects intervened and attacked both the man and woman, knocking the male victim to the ground.

The three suspects fled in a black Nissan Rogue after a bystander intervened in the attack.

The female victim was taken to hospital to treat her injuries and the man sustained minor injuries and did not require medical attention.

This comes after new figures reveal that Bud Light sales have plummeted in every region of the US following the disastrous Dylan Mulvaney partnership.

America’s flagship beer brand has been in a steep decline after using the controversial trans influencer, 26, to promote the drink.

Police in Canada said: “Detectives are looking for three suspects after two people were assaulted and anti-gay slurs uttered in a suspected hate-motivated incident in the town of Vaughan.

“One of the suspects made comments about the male victim’s choice of alcohol and uttered anti-homosexual, derogatory remarks when he approached the victim.”

That’s what a police source said Worldwide news that the assumption that the victims bought Bud Light was incorrect.

They said, ‘I guess there was some rainbow colors on the cans and so it was initiated that way… When they further determined what they had bought, they still weren’t happy with it. Let’s put it this way. And the insults continued.’

The second and third suspects received less description and no photo. The second is described as someone with a light brown complexion, black hair, a full black beard and a red Cristiano Ronaldo Portugal football shirt.

The Bud Light boycott has been drastic. Locals in Marietta, Georgia, told DailyMail.com that they switched from their usual drink Bud Light to Coors Light, according to bartenders — who say the impact was “immediate.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was also quick to move away from the brand, saying, “Why would anyone drink Bud Light?”

The 2024 hopeful was previously seen drinking Budweiser, another brand under the Anheuser-Busch umbrella, but has since moved away from the brand altogether and switched to drinking Guinness.

A chain restaurant in the Sunshine State also removed Bud Light from its menus after its owner claimed that working with Mulvaney violated his “biblical beliefs.”

Joe Penovich, the owner of Grills Restaurants, confirmed that the two-decade-old establishment no longer served the popular drink.

Gay bars in Chicago have also pledged to stop selling the beer, calling the comments made by the global CEO of Bud Light’s parent company Anheuser-Bush “cruel and hateful.”

2Bears Tavern Group, which has four locations in the city, sued Anheuser-Busch after the company “cancelled” its support for Mulvaney.

They will also discontinue other Anheuser-Busch brands, including Busch Light and Goose Island 312.

West South Central, which includes Texas, saw sales fall 22 percent across the region.

Texas country singer John Rich also dropped the brand, asking what beer he should use to replace Bud Light at his Nashville bar, Redneck Riviera.
