Country Road Group launched an internal investigation after staff reported management had mishandled their complaints of sexual harassment, racism and bullying.
The group’s parent company has ordered an investigation into the handling of staff complaints after receiving feedback from staff about how they were treated.
A spokesperson for the company said they took complaints of harassment, including sexual harassment, very seriously and had a zero-tolerance policy for matters of this nature.
“It is vitally important to us that all team members feel safe, valued and included in our workplace,” the spokesperson said.
“We sincerely thank the team members for speaking out and raising their concerns.”
Iconic fashion retailer Country Road has said it will investigate claims from staff that complaints about sexual harassment and bullying were mishandled.
The company’s chief executive, Roy Bagattini, has since sent an email to staff after media reported on the investigation.
“You are no doubt aware that some of our team members have preemptively interacted with the media and this has led to several speculative news reports,” he told staff.
“The outside attention to our company through these articles may be disturbing and comes at a difficult time for you and also for us as a company.”
The investigation is expected to conclude in June.
