Billboard named her a leading country-pop crossover star of the ’90s and her face is recognized worldwide thanks to it being a prominent feature on the covers of her numerous albums.

But on Thursday night, the Canadian singer-songwriter went largely unnoticed when she arrived at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards in Nashville with ’60s-style hair and a Barbie-inspired denim outfit.

She surprised fans who might have been confused into thinking she was Sabrina Carpenter with her bold blonde locks.

The platinum-selling artist spoke with MY! News about their makeover, telling them: ‘Isn’t that crazy? “I love it,” he said.

‘I was involved with the sketches, the design, the silhouette and everything. For me, that’s the joy.

“It’s not about putting something amazing on, it’s about being a part of it.”

When asked which modern country stars she’s a fan of, Shania told Taste of Country Nights: ‘New to the genre right now: Shaboozey. “His music and videos just make me smile.”

She added: ‘One of the privileges I have as host of the night is this access I have.

“I’m going to insist on, you know, just thanking him for radiating that kind of feel-good vibe.”

In addition to presenting, Shaboozey, whose real name is Collins Obinna Chibueze, has been nominated for several awards including New Artist of 2024, Album of 2024 and Song of 2024, Male Song of 2024 and New Artist Song of 2024 for A Bar Song. (Tipsy).

Zach Bryan, 28, leads the nominations with 19, while Beyonce, 43, is close behind with 17 nominations, following the release of her country album ‘Cowboy Carter’, which includes Overall Popular Artist of 2024, Artist Female of 2024 and Album of 2024.

Twain also talked about taking on hosting duties during an interview with Billboard earlier this week.

“It’s a really complete experience for me,” he told the outlet. ‘It takes me back to my own beginnings in Nashville and as a new recording artist there…’

‘And obviously the historic location is always attractive. I meet new artists, meet old friends and make new friends.’

The star also added: “I’m here more as a fan than anything else.” It’s the artists that people want to hear and see, so for me that’s everything. I’ll be right in the middle of all of this, so I’m very excited. I have all access.’

Meanwhile, Shania confessed that she can get carried away when handed a microphone and will probably end up “rambling” throughout the night.

She told The Boot of hosting: ‘I’m not a big reader. I’m a very spontaneous speaker and thinker, so if I ramble, they may have to remove me from the stage.

She continued, “I think it’s going to be more about adrenaline than nerves, you know, just feeling excited, getting ready to meet artists I haven’t met yet.”

“I will say that the night will go by too quickly for me, that excitement can make me talk too fast or too long.” I think I’ll be more of a giddy kid. I think that’s it, I don’t want to ramble, you know?
