Dave Sharma, a former ambassador to Israel, has been shortlisted as the Replacement of the Liberal Party.

At a press conference on Sunday morning, Dr. Phelps delivered an early blow to Mr. Sharma.

"It deserves to believe that the Liberal Party has not been able to find a suitable candidate within the Wentworth electorate," he said.

"I have been a member of this local community for almost 20 years, this is going to be a grassroots campaign, this is not a multi-million dollar club."

Tim Murray of the Labor Party will also represent the seat.

Dr. Phelps said that her platform will be socially progressive and that she will try to block the hard right of both the Liberal Party and the Labor Party.
