Costco is selling emergency food and drink survival kits with a 25-year shelf life.

The kits are aimed at Americans who want to stock up in case of natural disasters in their area, but they also appeal to so-called doomsday preppers.

ReadyWise buckets, which contain 150 servings (including Alfredo pasta and chicken pot pie), are $79.99 after a $20 discount.

But for those who really want to stock up (and have plenty of storage space or a big bunker), Costco sells the kits by the pallet.

The ReadyWise palette has 5,400 servings for $2,499 after a $500 discount.

If you eat a daily serving of these foods, your palate could last almost 11 years.

Each bucket contains 80 main dishes and side dishes, 30 breakfast items and 40 drinks. Water needs to be added to turn dry foods into meals.

The pallet contains 36 of these cubes, that is, 2,880 main dishes and side dishes, 1,080 breakfasts and 1,440 drinks.

Cookbook author Jeffrey Eisner posted a video on Instagram about Readywise cubes after seeing them at her local Costco on June 30th.

“I’m at Costco, which is the happiest place in the world I’m at, and I’ve never seen anything like this before,” Eisner says.

“I guess this is for when the apocalypse comes, which could happen at any time, right? Who knows?”

And he adds: “So, you know, when the world comes crashing down and falls apart, as long as you have your Readywise emergency food supply, all will be right with the world.”

Her video went viral, with more than 2 million views and 2,700 comments.

“I’m glad someone thought to consider our desire for variety during the apocalypse,” Rachel_the_realtor wrote.

Another joked: “Shelf life of 25 years… if the apocalypse doesn’t kill you, preservatives will!”

Some users also explained the use of the kits to those who thought they were unnecessary.

“Have you never heard of food storage?” wrote Hellolovelypeople.

‘It is for possible temporary disasters: earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, city closures, quarantines, etc.

“It lasts 25 years, so you can buy it once and have peace of mind knowing it’s there. This has been around for a long time. My mom gave me a bucket like this 15 years ago.”

Doomsday preppers fear that the world as we know it will end, perhaps due to World War III or a major natural disaster. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and tensions in the Middle East (with Hamas attacking Israel) have heightened fears.

So they build bunkers and stock them with food and drink.
