Costco fans have a new star item in the retailer’s food courts to rival the $1.50 hot dog and soda combo.
That fan favorite has been at the same price since the early 1980s, and new finance chief Gary Millerchip promised last week that no price increase was planned.
A combination of chicken strips and fries is now offered, but there’s a problem for American shoppers.
It is only available in Canada, where it costs $6.99, that is, Canadian dollars, which is approximately $5 in the United States.
After a Reddit user posted an updated menu from the Canadian food court, he was inundated with responses. “Chicken and chips would be a big hit in America,” one wrote.

A Canadian asked, ‘Don’t you guys have chicken strips down there? The best on the menu is legit.
Canadian Costco fans love the strips so much they’ve been trying to figure out who makes them.
The combo isn’t the only Costco-only food in Canada.
They also keep the traditional Canadian poutine (fries topped with cheese curds and gravy) for them.
American customers point out that they can’t buy fries at Costco at all, strange given America’s love for them.
In the Reddit thread, a Canadian wrote: ‘Wait… you guys in the US don’t even have French fries???’
Fans said that while the hot dog offering is the best value for money, the chicken strips could challenge it.
They also noted that the hot dog and soda combo also costs $1.50 in Canada, about $1.09 in the United States.
‘1.50 CAD is basically free!’ one user joked.

Costco has not increased membership prices since 2017

Last week, new finance chief Gary Millerchip promised that no price increase was planned.
But there has been no news about membership fees, which are a key source of income.
Costco makes about $4 billion a year in fees, which amount to $60 to $120 a year. They have been at that price since 2017.
The company has not increased its annual membership dues in nearly seven years.
It charges $60 for Business and Gold Star and $120 for Executive, which offers 2 percent cash back on all Costco purchases made that year up to a total of $750.
