Corsair has announced that it has acquired Origin PC, a company known for its pre-built enthusiastic gaming desktops and laptops. According to a press release, purchasing is a game to extend Corsair's reach to more gamers who don't want to havesle building their own PCs.
In addition to making PC peripherals such as gaming mice, headsets and keyboards, Corsair is already focusing on the custom build market with popular internal components such as power supplies and RAM.
Origin PC remains a separate brand from Corsair and will still guarantee guarantees, product support and purchases. Although it may have acquired the best-known name in the pre-built PC market, Corsair says it still wants to produce its own systems, such as the Corsair One. The overlap makes sense: Origin PC makes colossal systems without limitations, while Corsair has made an effort to create space-conscious builds.
However, some changes will be made to Origin's build builds. Corsair will integrate its iCue software into machines that offer "system-wide lighting synchronization and system monitoring", as well as Corsair's customized Hydro X-series cooling systems. It says that further integration of Corsair technologies into Origin PC builds will take place in the near future.
In 2018, Corsair acquired Elgato, which is popular because of its recording cards that make streaming to Twitch and YouTube much easier. The PC scene has undergone a lot of consolidation in recent years with other high-profile acquisitions, such as Logitech that bought Astro and Turtle Beach that had taken over Roccat.
