Corrie’s Millie Gibson unveils dramatic transformation ahead of Doctor Who role

Millie Gibson has swapped the Cobbles for the Tardis after leaving Weatherfield behind to star in Doctor Who.

The actor, who has played Kelly Neelan in the ITV soap since 2019 recently decided to change things up looks-wise, too, and she took to social media to document her dramatic new haircut.

Posing for a mirror selfie, the 18 year old shared the fresh chop with her 194K followers, but first teased them with a snap of her long locks lying on the floor accompanied by scissor emojis.

The next slide showed Millie with a stunning short blonde bob and looking into her front camera with a slight pout.

Her next story then quoted former TOWIE star, Gemma Collins. The post said: “A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life,” followed by, “I did a Gemma.”

Millie left Coronation Street last month after playing the role of Kelly for three years.

During her time on the street, she experienced her fair share of drama, and took on some heavy storylines that eventually won her the British Soap Award for Best Young Actor in 2022.

From being found guilty of murder, to dealing with the death of her mother from cancer, Millie’s character went through a lot in the short space of time she was in the soap.

But it won’t be long before she returns to our screens, as it was recently announced that she had been chosen to play the Doctor’s 15th companion, starring alongside Sex Education’s Ncuti Gatwa, who has been cast as the new Doctor.

The young actor, who channelled Pamela Anderson at the NTAs last month has since expressed her excitement about joining the cast of the iconic sci-fi programme. Speaking at Children in Need, she said: “It is a gift of a role, and a dream come true, and I will do everything to try and fill the boots the fellow companions have travelled in before me.”

She also mentioned Ncuti when chatting about the role, revealing that she’s really looking forward to working with him, especially on such a classic show. “What better way to do that than being by the fabulous Ncuti Gatwa’s side, I just can’t wait to get started, she added.

With such a varied and exciting role ahead of her, who knows what look Millie is going to go for during her time in Doctor Who. Here’s hoping the blonde bob stays for a bit, though, as it looks amazing!
