Gary Rohan has confirmed he has welcomed a baby boy with wife Madi Bennett following his miscarriage heartbreak.

The AFL star, 32, took to Instagram on Saturday to share the joyful baby news with her 49,000 followers in a heartwarming post.

Gary announced he was expecting his first child and ‘rainbow baby’ with Madi in August, after the couple suffered a devastating miscarriage. Gary also lost a son to his ex-wife Amie in 2018.

Announcing the birth of their son, Gary shared a photo of him and Madi smiling from ear to ear as they posed with their newborn baby, who was sleeping in his stroller.

In an accompanying caption, Gary confirmed the little one’s arrival, simply writing: “Home time with our little man.”

The proud father, who also shares daughters Sadie and Bella with his ex-wife Amie, is yet to confirm his baby’s name or when he was born.

Their friends and fans quickly took to the comments section to share their congratulatory messages with the happy couple.

They gushed: ‘He’s here!!! Congratulations to you two’; ‘Congratulations to all’; ‘Oh my God, congratulations’; “Beautiful family congratulations, he is more than perfect.”

Geelong Cats player Gary confirmed he and Madi were expecting a child together in a post shared on Instagram in August.

Sharing a picture of his ultrasound scan, he wrote, ‘A Rohan grows. Our rainbow baby is on the way.’

He continued: ‘What seemed like the longest journey to hear your heartbeat was worth every second to soon have you in our arms.

“We are so excited to be your mom and dad.”

Gary first went public with Geelong physiotherapist Madi in 2021, and the happy couple officially tied the knot in December 2022.

Gary also shared a lengthy paragraph about the son he lost with his ex-wife Amie, who tragically died shortly after Amy gave birth to twins.

The baby, a daughter named Willow, had a fatal neural tube defect known as anencephaly, for which there is no known cure.

“I want to take a moment to thank those who see this post with a broken heart,” Gary wrote.

‘A feeling I know very well. When it seems like the entire world is getting pregnant and you’re suffering unimaginable pain after losing yours, it’s the hardest post to watch.

‘I just want to tell everyone who knows this feeling, or is feeling it now, to know that you are not alone. I hear you, I see you, I feel you. We are 1 in 4.’

Gary and Amie were high school sweethearts and were married for four years before separating in 2020.

They announced the news of their baby in August 2023 and have since both spoken openly about a devastating miscarriage they suffered last year.

Gary recently opened up about how the heartbreaking miscarriage brought back devastating memories of losing his daughter Willow just hours after her birth.

“I lost a child with my last partner, so obviously this brought back a lot of memories,” he told News Corp.

‘Willow, he had anencephaly where part of the skull doesn’t fit. We knew she would have no life after her birth.

“We spent five incredible hours with Willow before she grew her wings and left.”

Madi previously explained how she had suffered a “miscarriage”, which occurs when a fetus is no longer alive but the body still thinks it is pregnant.

“I had what they call a missed miscarriage,” she told the Missta Mums podcast.

Madi previously explained how she had suffered a “miscarriage”, which occurs when a fetus is no longer alive but the body still thinks it is pregnant.

‘My body was 100 per cent going ahead with the pregnancy and growing and the hormones were rising and doing everything they should, but my body hadn’t registered that I had lost the baby.

“I continued to grow and still had all my symptoms.”

She said she had to go through a devastating two-week wait to find out for sure if she had miscarried.

“The two weeks of waiting for that second scan had literally driven me crazy,” she said. “Waiting any longer I couldn’t make it.”

Madi admitted she had no idea the experience was so common and wasn’t sure about sharing the news with others.

She said: “It’s something you can’t understand unless you’ve been through it.” You hear the stories and you definitely sympathize with other people who are going through it, but it hit me like a ton of bricks.

“My heart broke at that moment, especially because I know there must have been women around me who had been through this and I didn’t know it and I wasn’t there to support them.”

‘It’s a very taboo topic. Before this pregnancy, I had a miscarriage and felt like there was nothing out there. There was nothing that I could resonate with, nothing that I could understand a little bit about the process and how common it is.

“You are not alone, one in four pregnancies ends in a miscarriage.”

Gary’s ex-wife Amie is also expecting a baby with her partner Jaison Todd, and opened up about her pregnancy earlier this month.

‘I love being pregnant. “I feel more feminine and healthier when I’m pregnant,” she told the Herald Sun.

“I feel very euphoric throughout this entire pregnancy and there are many important changes in our lives.”

Amie, who confirmed her baby news in December, said she and Jaison are considering getting married and are already living together.

“With everything I’ve been through, we’re taking each day as it comes,” he said.

‘It’s not something that needs to consolidate who we are. He is a true gentleman and everything that happened to him was in a divine moment.

“I said I would never marry again, but who knows, I’m not closed to the idea.”
