Multimillionaire television host, political commentator and comedian Bill Maher has argued that inflation is not that bad and that Americans' disapproval of President Biden is based on a failure to understand economics.

HBO host and longtime political commentator Bill Maher ruffled some feathers when he claimed that President Joe Biden’s approval ratings are underwater because most Americans don’t understand economics.

During the latest episode of “Real Time with Bill Maher,” the comedian delivered a closing monologue titled “Cheer Up,” which he used to argue that economic conditions in the United States are better than what the is attributed to Biden.

“Why are Biden’s approval ratings so low when things are generally pretty good?” He asked.

“Now, of course, there are problems: America is a big country. But wages are rising, unemployment is negligible, the stock market is soaring, we’ve somehow ignored both the Trump presidency and the pandemic.

“Yes, inflation persists for many things, but a good, good-sized TV now costs $60. Who gets the credit for this? We have next day shipping, stuffed crust pizza, legal weed, GPS, and porn on the phone. Well done !’ he told his audience.

Maher, whose show has been on the air for 20 years, is would have paid more than $6 million a year for his HBO show, making his assessment of the impacts of inflation stable. Maher also lives in a Beverly Hills mansion that he paid $2.2 million for in 1998.

The 68-year-old, however, says Americans complain simply because they don’t realize how good they really have it.

“Stop acting like life in America in 2024 is unbearable. Biden’s ratings are in the toilet, not because he’s doing such a bad job, but because many Americans like to live with their heads in the toilet!’

Historically, the economic health of the country is a major indicator of how a presidential election will fare.

Maher, famously anti-Trump, now says the current administration has managed the economy quite competently, as evidenced by recent job growth and wage numbers.

In reality, these numbers have done little to ease the average American family’s anxiety about soaring food prices. Despite the figures released by the Biden administration, wage growth is far from having caught up with the inflation rate of recent years.

A report from late last year indicated that American families now need to spend an additional $11,400 per year to maintain the same quality of life they had in 2021.

Instant access to naked women on their smartphones is probably not enough to offset the distress caused by the reality of their worsening financial situation, Maher argues.

For these reasons, and a laundry list of others – including the incredible crisis at the southern border and the man’s age asking for four more years – Biden’s approval rating sits at a dismal rate by 37.4 percent.

In fact, Americans are so generally unhappy with changes in their quality of life that Biden failed to get the standard 3-5 point increase that usually comes after the State of the Union address, which he delivered earlier this month.

Some polls even showed a slight drop in his popularity the day after his fiery and partisan speech.

Maher is by no means a staunch defender of the current president, although he will support him in November.

Earlier this month, the comedian criticized Biden for his age issue, which has only become a more visible problem as the frequency of the president’s gaffes and moments of confusion increases.

“Instead of trying to refute all the ‘too old to be president’ criticisms, Joe needs to accept them. Stop with the “I’m sharper than ever.” Nobody buys that. Don’t try to deny age, lean into it. Bend over, bend over like you’re eating soup,” Maher joked in early March.

“And admit it!” Say: “Yes, I’m bad with names and I walk like a child with a full diaper, but I believe in democracy. »

He pointed out that Democratic candidates have recently become defensive about who they really are, adding that Americans can see past their insincerity.

‘Be yourself! And Joe, you yourself are old,” Maher said. “You’re so old you fell down the stairs of the Underground Railroad.” You’re so old that your bad kid with a drug problem is 54,” Maher joked.

Since 2021, he has reportedly tripped eight times while navigating the steps of Air Force One, the presidential jet, including three times on a single flight to Atlanta.

In 2022, he fell off his bike after getting stuck in his pedals; in 2023, he tripped while descending a small staircase during the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan; later that year, he tripped on a sandbag and fell on stage during an Air Force Academy graduation ceremony.

And when the stairs to Air Force One were shortened last year so he could board the plane at a lower level, Biden tripped on them, too.
