Paloma Faith has revealed her heartbreak over her split from ex Leyman Lachine “will be forever” because they have children together.

The singer, 42, married the French artist, 36, in 2017 and they had two daughters, before separating in 2022 after nine years together.

Speaking to Jamie Laing on her Great Company podcast on Wednesday, Paloma opened up about coping with the separation as co-parents and her new ‘heartbreak album’.

“I think this is a continuous navigation because we have children together,” she said.

‘And that’s what makes this a different kind of heartbreak album. The heartbreak will be forever and the navigation of our shape-shifting relationship will be forever, probably until we die.

But Paloma said it’s even harder for her and Leyman because they still love each other, which can make things confusing.

She said: ‘But in my case, it’s even harder, I think in a way because we really like each other a lot. We are very close and still love each other and that makes it confusing.

‘That’s really sad. So it’s kind of heartbreaking. Every time we see each other it is very raw because of the children.”

In March, Paloma admitted that having children with Leyman was what caused the breakdown of their marriage.

Addressing their separation, they confessed that becoming parents changed their relationship irreversibly, as they were unable to provide Leyman with the same level of attention as before.

Appearing on BBC Breakfast last month, Paloma insisted the record is not a “revenge album” but revealed Leyman won’t be listening to it.

She explained: ‘I feel like if you listen to the album, it will be very focused on my internal experience. It’s not an album of accusations, it’s not an album of revenge.
