A group of angry brides, dressed in a wedding dress, staged a furious protest in Rome when they opposed the postponement of their marriage over a coronavirus lock.

About 15 women posed in front of the Trevi Fountain wearing white umbrellas and matching white face masks.

They also organized protests outside of the parliamentary buildings, along with other industrial companies hit by lockdown, such as caterers, venue owners and musicians.

Organized by an Italian wedding association, the event was dubbed the ‘single or unmarried’ flash mob.

Women held signs that translated “weddings without restrictions,” “you broke our marriages,” and “church doors closed for weddings” before marching through town in white stilettos.

All nonessential business and activities – including wedding ceremonies – had been banned in Italy for about two months when the country tried to slow the spread of the corona virus.

However, officials from Rome City Hall made an exception for anyone who booked a civil wedding ceremony – not in a church – before the closure began.

However, they have limited the number of guests to just two.

Although religious ceremonies have since been given the green light to resume, congregations are required to wear aloof measures and the wearing of face masks and gloves.

Sanitizing gels should also be placed at church entrances and at the end of each mass the entire church is purified.
