It has been revealed that AFL legends Nathan Buckley and Tim Watson were forced to hitchhike to their jobs as football commentators at the AFL Gather Round on Friday.
The couple were invited to Saltram Wines in the Barossa at the weekend, but shortly after leaving the car they were in got a punctured tyre.
Buckley’s partner Brodie Ryan suggested they hitchhike into town and luckily some friendly locals agreed.
“It wasn’t ideal,” Ryan said. Herald of the sun.

The football legends were on their way to work when the car they were traveling in had a flat tire.
‘We had a lovely lunch with the new owners, we were there as guests of Noel and Maree (Duncan), the founders of SiSU Health Group.
‘It’s an amazing winery, I visited when I was a kid from Mildura, great food, amazing wine… They’ve just bought a century-old wine called No 1.
‘We had left the winery with Tim Watson knowing that the boys had call times of 4:30 and 5:30 and we were 15 minutes into the journey when we felt the tire go.
‘We were trying to help our driver change the tire, but the key broke… I asked the guys: would you be happy if I try to hitchhike?’
‘Luckily some locals, Michael and David, passed by and were at the Saltram Winery event and noticed us and stopped.
“They were the saviors of the day and of the Fox and 7News football broadcast and brought Tim and Nath to their respective desks.”
Ryan previously told the Herald Sun that she and Buckley were connected by their similar upbringing.
Despite their 17-year age difference, the Melbourne businesswoman said they have a lot in common and push each other every day to be the best versions of themselves.

“Helping others be the best version of themselves and prioritizing their mental health and well-being and giving back to others is a passion that Nath and I have always shared and these themes and different initiatives were a big attraction for each of us at first” , said. the publication.
“We had a very similar upbringing and shared many of the same values because of this,” he continued.
“I have always been excited about helping others where I can, and I am inspired to have a partner who exercises this same passion every day with their family, friends, and the greater community.”
Brodie said Nathan’s public profile has given her the opportunity to help others overcome hardships and give back, and that she is “inspired” by the work he does.
