Coronation Street actor Simon Gregson is reportedly under investigation following the collapse of his production company, which owes £165,000 to HMRC and a bank.
The liquidators, brought in to dissolve Simon Gregson Productions Ltd, have submitted a report to the Government into Gregson’s conduct as a director, according to the sun.
The report, submitted under the Company Directors Disqualification Act 1986, was reportedly sent to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
Although details remain confidential, liquidators have reportedly demanded repayment of £252,000 transferred from company funds to an account controlled by the actor.
The liquidators have concluded in official documents that there are no avenues left to claim the actor’s debts, the newspaper states.
In a statement, the liquidators said: ‘As this is a confidential report, we cannot reveal its contents.
‘Shortly after our appointment we made an initial assessment as to whether there might be any matters that could lead to estate recoveries and what further investigations might be appropriate.
‘This assessment analyzes account information provided by creditors, either at the initial meeting or in response to our request to complete an investigative questionnaire.

But despite his financial problems, Simon Gregson, 50, reportedly earned a £250,000 fee for his 2021 appearance on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and is said to earn £150,000 a year for his role as Steve McDonald in Coronation Street.
However, his production company struggled during the pandemic, forcing him to take drastic measures to address mounting debt.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Gregson admitted he signed up for the jungle reality show because “the money is good” and it was “enough to get him out of trouble.”
He even jokingly compared the payment to a “solid gold diamond cup.”
Gregson’s company officially went into liquidation on 9 November 2023, leaving behind significant debts including £125,002 owed to HMRC, £35,000 to Coutts Bank for a Covid loan and £5,002 to trade and expenses creditors.
Gregson attempted to reduce debts by selling old office furniture in January 2024 and agreed to repay creditors £1,500 a month.
According to the liquidators’ report, £9,000 has been repaid so far.
If the remaining balance is not paid off within 36 months, Gregson has been informed that the debt will have to be settled by selling his home.
The Bounce Back loan program, designed to support businesses affected by the pandemic, was part of Gregson’s company debts.

The investigation by BEIS will determine whether any further action is required regarding Gregson’s conduct as a director.
Meanwhile, the actor faces the difficult task of paying creditors and resolving the financial consequences of his company’s collapse.
News of the liquidator’s conduct report comes after Gregson was forced to deny claims he had separated from his wife Emma.
