Coronation Street star Kimberly Hart-Simpson has shared the news of a heartbreaking family loss just days before her return to the soap hits screens.
The actress, 37, who will reprise her role as former sex worker Nicky Wheatley, revealed that her beloved aunt Patricia has died.
Kimberly took to Instagram on Monday to reveal that she and her loved ones had said their final goodbyes to her aunt at an emotional funeral, after she passed away from an “ongoing battle” with cancer last month.
Sharing a snap with her aunt, she captioned her post: ‘Today we said goodbye to my aunt. As she continued to greet the others again.’
He previously paid an emotional tribute to Patricia last month following her tragic passing, writing on Instagram: “In the early hours of Wednesday we lost Auntie Pat after her ongoing battle with cancer.

Kimberly recently returned to the Corrie set to reprise her role as Nicky after four years away from the cobbles, and her scenes will air in the coming weeks.

The couple bonded after Daniel lost his wife Sinead to cancer in 2019 and sought out Nicky, who was working as a companion at the time, for emotional support.

Talking about reprising her role in the ITV soap, Kimberly said: ‘It’s been 4 years since we met Nicky and once again it’s a pleasure to be back on the cobbles.

“Lauren Bolton’s story has allowed other characters to come to light, like Cassie, but unfortunately brought about the devastating effects of other people’s conspiracy theories.
“Nicky has fought all the stereotypes and I can’t wait for audiences to discover who she is and where she is today.”
Kimberly previously revealed she receives praise from Coronation Street fans for her realistic portrayal of sex worker Nicky in the soap.
She said Sun in 2022: “I’m delighted that charities and sex workers have contacted me to say they like the way Nicky is portrayed because it’s very realistic and the writers haven’t given him a problem with drugs or addiction. drink”.
