It comes after it was revealed Claire is taking a break from her role in Coronation Street just weeks after signing a new deal to film another TV show, it has been reported.

The actress and singer made her debut as Cassie, the drug-addicted mother of established character Tyrone Dobbs, in June last year.

Cassie was a hit with fans, who particularly delighted when she drove her poor mother Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) crazy with her antics.

But fans needn’t worry about Claire’s break as it will only be for a week while she films the second series of The Good Ship Murder.

Claire reprises her role as entertainment manager Beverley Carnell in the Channel 5 murder mystery series.

The series is directed by Catherine Tyldesley and Shayne Ward, who not only previously appeared in Corrie but also played a couple.

Catherine, 40, and Shayne, 39, played Eva Price and Aidan Connor in Coronation Street for seven and three years respectively.

The Good Ship Murder follows former police detective Jack Grayling (Shayne) as he finds his old life intruding on his job as a cruise ship singer, when murders begin to occur on board.

With the help of the ship’s first officer, Kate Woods (Catherine), Jack solves a series of unusual mysteries, against the sunny backdrop of the Mediterranean.

Each episode ends with Jack performing a song in the ship’s cabaret room.

The Good Ship Murder also stars Geoffrey Breton, who appeared in Doctors, Hollyoaks Later and The Crown.

The show has been renewed for a third series and a Christmas special as well, Channel 5 confirmed in April.

A source told The Sun: ‘Claire is taking a short break from Corrie to film. It’s a matter of days and it won’t affect the pavers at all. Everything has been fixed so that there are no interruptions on the screen.

It comes after Claire told Cheshire Life: “I’ve just signed my contract for another year on Corrie and I’m so happy to be investing all my time and energy into Cassie and seeing what develops.”

‘I couldn’t be happier with the acting scenes I recently did in Coronation Street with Dame Maureen Lipman in the Rovers, and with Alan Halsall and Jennie McAlpine in the Dobbs house.

“When I first got into Corrie, I did a 14-page scene with Maureen while my character was in hospital. Playing alongside such a phenomenal actor was a dream come true. The writing and directing of that episode was incredible. “This is definitely one of my highlights.”

Claire is currently in a relationship with former professional boxer Ricky Hatton.

The couple recently returned from a sun-soaked getaway to Tenerife, just weeks after their red carpet debut in Manchester.

When asked by The Sun how his holiday had gone, Ricky replied: “It was great!” Claire is like me, I have met someone who I get along with like a house on fire.

‘She’s just like me. We spent all our time laughing together. Claire is like me: she is down to earth.

A source recently revealed that Claire plans to introduce Ricky to her family, including her nine-year-old son Jaxon, who she shares with ex-partner Daniel Reilly.

A source told MailOnline: ‘Claire and Ricky have become very close. She wasn’t looking for a relationship, but then Ricky came along and it felt good and natural and she is very happy.

“She signed up for a reality TV show and met a great guy, so she feels like she won the lottery, and she’s really counting her blessings since it all came out of nowhere and that’s often the best manner”.

“She is now looking forward to introducing Ricky to her family and friends soon, and they are looking forward to meeting the boy who has made Claire smile.”
