MailOnline has contacted Coronation Street representatives for comments.
Sam has played a prominent role in various storylines on Coronation Street during his 17 years on the soap, and last year Chesney saw baby quads welcomed with Gemma.
Although the couple are struggling to adapt to the aging of four babies, things will become even more difficult in the coming weeks, after they learn that their son Aled is deaf.
Reports from Sam’s contract came after Corrie successively saw the cast leave last year, in what was called a massive exodus.

Amazing: sources have claimed that the actor is in a “great position” to negotiate a new deal after 17 years after his character Chesney welcomed baby quads last year
Sources told The Irish sun that the increase in cast exits was caused by fury behind the scenes, because many stars were unhappy with the vastly different wages, long hours and limitations when accepting other promotional deals.
Lucy Fallon – who will leave Corrie next month – was the seventh star to announce that she would leave the soap in just four months, after stars including Kym Marsh and Katie McGlynn had also confirmed that they would leave the cobbles.
Fans have recently blamed showrunner Iain MacLeod for the increase in cast departures, and it was reported that many stars were missing former producer Kate Oates, who stopped in May 2018.
But sources told MailOnline that Iain is not to blame for the many cast departures, but that ten cast members stopped in a year during his stint as Emmerdale boss from 2016 to 2018.
