Cops identify five teenagers killed in Labor Day crash in Atlanta, after car left overpass before being hit by another car

Police have identified the five teenagers who were killed in a fatal crash in Atlanta early Monday that slammed a vehicle into a wall, throwing passengers from the car in a 50-foot fall.
Three girls and two boys were pronounced dead at the scene: Katy Gaitan, 17, of Atlanta, Ashley Gaitan, 16, of Atlanta, Coral Lorenzo, 17, of Atlanta, Hung Nguyen, 18, of Lawrenceville, and Abner Santana, 19. from Suwanee.
At least three of the victims were students from Lakeside High School in DeKalb County.

The accident caused a vehicle to flip over a wall of the elevated ramp, falling into the traffic lanes, police said in a statement. Several people were ejected during the incident.
Three other people were injured and transported to local hospitals. Their condition is currently unknown.
Cpl. Christian D’Allaird of the Gwinnett County Police Department said all those killed were presumed to be in the same vehicle.
“I would say it was about a 50 foot drop,” he said.

“As for the factors that led to the vehicle going over the wall, we don’t know yet,” D’Allaird said.
The collision caused closures of the ramp connecting Highway 316 west to I-85 south for several hours on Monday, but they reopened later in the morning.
“The main I85 SB traffic lanes are cleared and reopened. The I85 SB and SR316 WB CDs remain closed and will be closed for an extended period while the Gwinnett County Police Accident Investigation Unit handles the investigation,” Gwinnett Police officials said. on Facebook.
Police are still investigating the causes of the fatal collision.
