Police have charged a suspect who crashed a truck into White House security gates with multiple crimes, including attempting to kill, kidnap or injure the president, vice president or a family member .
WUSA9 reported that the man who drove his U-Haul truck into the White House security gate on Monday night faces five counts.
There were no injuries at the scene after the crash around 10 p.m. The truck was quickly deemed safe by DC police. Inspection revealed what appeared to be a Nazi flag in the truck.
The driver’s name or details of the incident were not immediately released.
The Secret Service has previously confirmed that charges will be filed by the United States Park Police with Secret Service support.

“There were no injuries to Secret Service or White House personnel, and the cause and manner of the accident is under investigation,” wrote Anthony Guglielmi, communications chief for the United States. secret service, on Twitter.

After the initial crash, the truck driver hit the barriers a second time. Video footage of the incident showed the driver continuing to attempt to move forward after the first crash.
Authorities then found a Nazi flag with a large swastika in the truck. Footage from a local photojournalist showed a law enforcement officer folding the flag, which had been spread out on the ground in public view.

The Secret Service released the following statement Monday evening:
“Shortly before 10 p.m. Monday, Secret Service Uniformed Division agents arrested the driver of a van truck after the vehicle collided with security barriers on the north side of Lafayette Square on 16th Street.
“There were no injuries to Secret Service or White House personnel and the cause and manner of the accident is being investigated. Road closures are in effect and pedestrian walkways are closed while we investigate.
President Biden was at the White House at the time of the incident, although the property is one of the most secure in the world, with a host of security features to keep intruders out.
