For the first time in more than a century, a Basque derby will determine the Copa del Rey.
Athletic Bilbao reached the Copa final for the fourth time in 12 years, despite a loss of 2-1 in Granada on Thursday, en route to goals after a total 2-2 score to complete a title match against Real Sociedad from the Basque Country put.
It is the first time that the two teams play for the Copa title since Athletic defeated Sociedad in 1910 in the decisive game of a mini-tournament with three teams.

Neither club has won the cup in more than 30 years, with the last title of Athletic in 1984 and that of Sociedad in 1987.
Sociedad beat second-class Mirandes on Wednesday, 1-0, to continue with 3-1.
Athletic won 1-0 in Bilbao, but came down 2-0 on Thursday after headers in the second half by Carlos Fernandez and German Sanchez. Yuri Berchiche scored the decisive goal after a run in the area in the 81st to give his team a place in the final of April 18 in Seville.

Athletic, which only plays players born or raised in the Basque region, is the second most successful club in the Copa with 23 titles, behind Barcelona’s 30. Athletic lost to the Catalan club the last three times it reached the final – in 2009, 2012 and 2015.
Two-time champion Sociedad made the final final in 1988, one year after it won its second title. The first came in 1909.
Granada tried to reach its second Copa final, and only since 1959, when it lost to Barcelona.
Athletic eliminated Barcelona 1-0 at home in the quarterfinals, while Sociedad Real Madrid declined with a 4-3 win at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
It is the first time in ten years that neither Barcelona nor Madrid made it to the last four.
