MANILA, Philippines — Authorities have arrested a police officer after he killed two men and injured a woman in Malabon City, police said Thursday.
In a report, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) identified the suspect as Zenjo Del Rosario, a member of the Malabon City Police Station (CPS) Drug Enforcement Unit, and the victims were Alexis Gutierrez, Jay Bacusmo Apas and Baby Tadiamon.
Police said Malabon CPS officers arrested Del Rosario in Barangay Acacia on Tuesday around 1 p.m., following the shooting incident that occurred at 4:30 a.m.
Based on the report, the suspect entered the victims’ home and shot various parts of their bodies. Of the three, only Tadiamon survived, suffering gunshot wounds to her body and left leg, while the other two died shortly after the incident.
After hearing gunshots, neighbors called for help from Malabon CPS and immediately took the victims to the hospital.
By recovering CCTV footage in the area and interviewing possible witnesses, the police tracker team discovered Del Rosario’s identity, leading to his arrest.
Del Rosario is currently under the custody of Malabon CPS and will undergo a paraffin test and medical examination. His firearm was also seized for ballistics examination.
