A nine-month-old baby underwent surgery after a stranger poured a scalding hot drink on him.
The baby was with his family enjoying a picnic at Hanlon Park in Coorparoo, south of Brisbane, when an unknown man approached the group around midday on Tuesday.
The stranger poured a hot liquid believed to be coffee on the baby before fleeing the scene.
The baby was rushed to Queensland Children’s Hospital with burns to his chest and face.
He underwent surgery Tuesday night to determine the severity of his burns.

Officers from the Child Protection and Investigation Unit have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage from the park.
The man remained at large early Wednesday morning.
