Cooper Cronk’s Wife Tara Rushton Joins The Sunday Project

The Sunday Project welcomed a glamorous new addition to the panel this weekend, after weeks of worrisome reviews.

Sports presenter Tara Rushton, 37, was a breath of fresh air on Sunday’s broadcast, appearing as a guest panelist alongside regulars Rachel Corbett, Tommy Little and Hamish Macdonald.

Tara, wife of NRL great Cooper Cronk, joined Channel 10 earlier this year to lead coverage of Australian rules football, but her appearance on The Project suggests her role with the network may be expanding.

Fans were delighted to see Tara take over on Sunday, with one posting on Instagram: ‘Beam of the sun. I loved it.’

“Tara has to be on The Project every night,” added another.

The Sunday Project’s regular host Lisa Wilkinson, meanwhile, was absent from Tara’s debut, after taking a three-week break from on-air duties this month.

She announced her decision to leave Fox Sports in June, months before Ten Sports lead coverage of Australian football.

Tara’s appearance on The Project comes amid the program’s sharp decline in ratings.

Several outlets, including The Australian, The Daily Telegraph, TV Blackbox and Daily Mail Australia, last week published stories about dwindling metro crowds in five cities, highlighting The Project’s prolonged decline since 2011.
