A founded guilty Nigerian fugitive, Florence Enwerim Onyegbu, was on Thursday, March 23, 2023, extradited to the United States of America, USA, where she is wished to solution to criminal charges verging on offense of the U.S. Law including the deal and payment of prohibited reimbursement in a healthcare matter.
Her extradition was collaborated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, following a demand by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, looking for support for her apprehension.
Examinations by the EFCC exposed that she had actually altered her name from Florence E. Onyegbu to Janet Boi in an effort to stay surprise.
According to EFCC Head, Media and Publicity, Mr Wilson Uwujaren,”She, nevertheless, lacked luck when operatives of the EFCC dove on her at her home in the Ojodu location of Lagos on February 21, 2022.
“Upon her arrest, a nationwide identity card with the name Janet Boi along with a Texas chauffeur’s license with the name Florence Enwerim Onyegbu were discovered on her.
The Commission, on March 22, 2023, turned over Onyegbu to the FBI, following an extradition order given by Justice Z.B. Abubakar of the Federal High Court being in Abuja on December 2, 2022.
“Onyegbu’s travails started after she was apprehended on February 12, 2011 in the U.S. and consequently sentenced to 46 months jail time, following a guilty plea, over the infraction of the U.S. Law verging on the deal and payment of prohibited reimbursement in a healthcare matter.
“Although she was purchased to report for service of her sentence on April 4, 2011, she stopped working to give up on that date.She was additional charged with failure to give up for service of sentence in infraction of U.S. Law on March 4, 2013 ″.
