Doja Cat has sparked backlash from her Instagram followers after she posted a photo of herself wearing a sweater with the face of controversial alt-right comedian Sam Hyde.
The 27-year-old singer posted a series of snapshots of herself in the back of her car on her Instagram on Saturday.
However, fans weren’t too impressed with the photos as the Paint The Town Red hitmaker donned a black jumper with a large print of Sam Hyde’s face, who is infamous for his public jokes and neo-Nazi beliefs on the internet.
In the snap, the beauty can be seen striking a sultry pose in the back of her car while wearing a silver diamond tiara.
Rap Alert also took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to tweet a photo of Doja wearing the jersey, and followers quickly took to the comments section to criticize the singer.
Backlash: Doja Cat has faced severe backlash from her Instagram followers after posting a photo of herself wearing a sweater with neo-Nazi Sam Hyde’s face printed on it
One follower tweeted: ‘I can’t even enjoy her music in peace, she’s always doing something.’
Another also joked: “I think she wants her career to end.”
While another said: ‘I’m so over her antics.’
After Doja posted the photos to her Instagram, the singer was criticized by followers for what she was wearing.
Doja then deleted the photos from her Instagram account before replacing them with a closer photo, hiding the image on her sweater.
Fans then quickly rushed to the comments section to criticize the singer again.
One follower commented: ‘Why are you hiding your shirt? are you ashamed of wearing something with a nazi on it? :/’
And another joked: “Girl, we saw you wearing a Nazi shirt.”
Oh dear! The 27-year-old singer posted a series of snapshots of herself in the back of her car on her Instagram on Saturday
Meanwhile, another added: “The fact that some of you are defending her on that shirt is beyond me.”
Doja Cat has become one of the most controversial singers of recent times, following the release of songs like Paint The Town Red and Demons, which many claim are ‘Satan-inspired’, and now the singer is under fire again.
The reaction from followers comes after Doja showed off her cleavage and midriff in a sizzling new Instagram photo from her collaboration with Skechers on Tuesday.
The rapper modeled a sexy all-black ensemble, with a pair of chunky, shiny sneakers from her Doja’Lite collection.
In the snap, the singer wore a scoop neck bra top paired with a long-sleeved shrug.
Uh oh: Fans couldn’t hide their anger over Doja’s clothing choice, with one calling her ‘pathetic’
In the photo, she also wore a high-waisted pleated mini skirt as she posed on a chrome and white leather chair.
This comes just as her latest album, Scarlet – which she released last month and celebrated by relaxing on the beach in a tiny string bikini – reached number 4 in the charts.
In the new photo of her collaboration with the shoe company, she showed off a pair of black sneakers with her own updated design.
She wore the shoes with thick leg warmers and the matching fingerless gloves.
She also wore a black baseball cap over her platinum blonde hairstyle.
She looked glamorous in a pair of large hoop earrings, a beaded choker and a cross pendant necklace.
For makeup, she used a light gray eyeshadow look with a sultry cat-eye winged liner.
Unimpressed: Doja then deleted the photos from her Instagram account before replacing them with a closer photo, hiding the image on her sweater. Fans then quickly rushed to the comments section to criticize the singer again
Finally, Doja finished her look with a cool-toned nude lip.
Last week, she had also shared a video on her Instagram announcing that her Skechers sneaker collection was on sale.
In the clip, she wore several black and white ensembles, including the aforementioned look.
In the clip, she posed on the same chair, which eventually went up in flames.
The cool collaboration comes as her album, Scarlet, continues to climb to the top Billboard 200 chart and was awarded the highest debut.
On September 22, she released her fourth studio album, Scarlet, which includes her hit single Paint The Town Red.
Who is Sam Hyde?
Sam Hyde has publicly expressed support for alt-right and neo-Nazi groups. In June 2017, Hyde donated $5,000 to far-right content creator Andrew Anglin of the Daily Stormer.
Anglin had set up a fundraiser to fight the Southern Poverty Law Center’s lawsuit alleging that the Daily Stormer organized trolls to harass a Jewish woman from Montana.
In 2015, Sam Hyde became a 4Chan meme after deliberately misidentifying himself as the gunman responsible for multiple mass shootings, such as the Parkland Las Vegas shooting and the Orlando shooting, among others.
The controversial internet figure’s photo was also featured in the New York shooter’s manifesto from May 2022. The latter made headlines after he shot ten people in Buffalo.
Reddit user u/Not_Grunge also said on the r/G59 forum that Hyde had aligned himself with neo-Nazis like Bertrand Spencer.
The Hope Not Hate website also revealed that he has been photographed with neo-Nazi Andrew Auernheimer in the past.
In August 2020, Hyde appeared on alt-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ podcast. The same year, he appeared in an election broadcast alongside white nationalist Nick Fuentes.
In October 2017, it was claimed that Sam Hyde was dating a 15-year-old girl named Marky. It was also alleged that the former physically assaulted the teenager. Graphic images showing he may have punched her in the face, causing bleeding, have also emerged online.
In other cases, Hyde was repeatedly misogynistic and threatened women. In a December 2019 video titled Beating Women, he said women pursuing STEM careers are “f**king retard b***h dyke(s).”
