The Block 2023 stars Kristy and Brett Beames aren’t holding back when it comes to their thoughts on the latest installment of the popular renovation reality series.
The pair, who gained a reputation as last year’s most controversial contestants, have launched their own social media series looking at The Block 2024.
In a recent episode, former contestants criticized the highly anticipated 20th anniversary series and did not hesitate to call it “boring.”
“To be honest, I’m bored out of my mind and I’m struggling at the moment,” Kristy said, bluntly expressing her disappointment. “Bring back the drama, I say.”
Talking with Yahoo LifestyleKristy also criticized the cast for being too concerned with how they are portrayed on screen, leading to a lack of authenticity.
“Most of the contestants seem worried about how they’ll be perceived on TV, so we have a lot of people trying to be something they’re not,” Kristy said.

She also did not refrain from criticizing the producers for their casting choices, claiming that this has caused ratings to drop.
“It was a chance for The Block to double down on a really successful season of ratings, but they’ve passed up the opportunity to hire personalities like this,” he added.
Kirsty also said she doesn’t agree with Paige and Jesse being labelled the “villains” of 2024 because of their fights, insisting she doesn’t think they are the real troublemakers.
Instead, she believes Grant, who is competing with fellow contestant Courtney, has been flying under the radar by sharing the one moment that proves his “villain” status.
“The way Grant spoke to his builder and said, ‘If you think you’re smarter than me, that’s the problem,’ really showed his true colors,” Kristy revealed.
Grant, who has been featured heavily in recent episodes, shocked viewers when he made the bold decision to fire his builders after learning they had complained to Foreman Dan and McCafé barista Tina about not being paid.
The business development manager was having none of it and quickly told the merchants to leave, claiming they had already been paid and accusing them of going behind his back.
While Paige and Jesse from Perth (pictured) have been labelled the villains of this season thanks to their constant bickering, Kristy believes they are not the real troublemakers.
Instead, she believes Grant, who is competing with fellow contestant Courtney, has been flying under the radar as he shared the one moment that proves his “villain” status.
It’s not the first time Grant has come under fire, with one of the 2024 series of The Block’s staff recently claiming he was the most difficult person to work with.
One builder claimed he “hated” working with Grant, telling Daily Mail Australia: “Courtney and Grant were quite cruel during their time at Phillip Island.”
“It’s fair to say that every house has its ‘villain,’ and the girls admit that the 2024 season has a certain kind of power dynamic in terms of the way they assert themselves,” they added.
A long-time producer also confirmed that the show’s staff had to deal with “poor communication and some childish behavior” in general.
“This year’s blue collar workers will say that houses One (Paige and Jesse), Two (Courtney and Grant) and Three (Ricky and Haydn) were the hardest to work with,” they said.
‘There were constant problems during the works at Phillip Island. Workers reported “poor communication and some childish behaviour.”
“The builders were treated quite badly and it was noticeable that it affected the mood on the set,” they added.
