Curtis Scott has triumphed in his professional boxing debut and has set his sights on an AFL Hall of Famer next.

Scott knocked out former teammate Joey Leilua in the second round of their bout on Wednesday night, after a mix-up before the fight caused confusion among fans at the arena.

The former Canberra star was meant to walk to the ring second but a frustrated Leilua demanded he have the honor of following the 26-year-old.

‘He should be worried about the fight,’ an unfazed Scott said.

‘They’re just little problems that mean nothing to me mate.

‘We’re gonna get out there and settle this so he should be worried about the fight, not walking out first.’

Indeed, Scott had the last laugh in the ring, brutally flooring Leilua with a devastating left hook in the second round to walk away victorious.

His win was all the more impressive after being 30kg lighter than his rival when they hit the scales on Tuesday.

‘I trained for the knockout,’ Scott said, adding that Leilua’s switch to southpaw stance allowed him to ‘fire it right down the middle’.

Scott then called out AFL great Barry Hall for his next fight. Hall is 21 years older than the former NRL star.

The 26-year-old won a premiership with Melbourne Storm in 2017 and was viewed as a potential State of Origin player, but his career was ruined by a string of off-field issues.

In 2022, he was sentenced to a 12-month community corrections order after being found guilty of three charges against his ex-girlfriend, athlete Tay-Leiha Clark, including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault and stalk or intimidate with the intention of causing fear or physical harm.

He had been sacked by the Canberra Raiders before the assault charge, for a separate incident surrounding a nightclub altercation, although he was later cleared of any charges.

He is also in a legal battle with NSW Police over what he claims was an ‘unlawful’ arrest in 2020.
