Although it has yet to open in the West End, Tom Holland’s Romeo and Juliet will transfer to Broadway later this year.

The Marvel actor, 27, who will play Romeo, will take to the stage at London’s Duke of York Theater for a 12-week run next month after tickets sold out just two hours after going on sale in February.

Fans compared the stress of trying to get tickets on par with Taylor Swift’s Eras tour, which has grossed $1.04 billion with 4.35 million tickets sold across 60 tour dates.

A source said Mirror on the transfer: “Romeo and Juliet will head to Broadway following its London run, with details to be announced in due course.”

“While director Jamie Lloyd has made a name for himself for his minimalist adaptations of classic texts, the protagonist of what is essentially another production of Romeo and Juliet is undoubtedly his protagonist.”
