Ben Shapiro compared potential Vice President Tim Walz to a “very anxious” corgi who would start “riding” a CNN anchor’s leg to distract from Kamala Harris’ potential interview gaffes.
The conservative commentator made the awkward juxtaposition on his show Thursday night ahead of Walz and Harris’ highly anticipated appearance on CNN.
Shapiro, 40, predicted the outing would turn out to be a trap for the couple, one in which an inexperienced Harris would end up having a hard time.
He said Walz, in turn, would revert to the down-to-earth persona he was supposedly known for: “very enthusiastic, but not particularly bright,” Shapiro said.
Shapiro then compared Walz to a canine, joking that he would even start “humping” host Dana Bash as a distraction.

“He’s like a political corgi: very enthusiastic, but not especially bright,” Shapiro said of the 60-year-old governor.
‘If things start to get a little bit out of hand, you know, if she asks a real question, Tim Walz can step in and start gesturing wildly with his hands.
“Being a weirdo… That’ll be really exciting,” he said.
Of Harris, he said: ‘She’s going to need your help, because here’s the problem.
“Every time it goes off script… it’s a disaster.”
He went on to admit that the race between Harris and Donald Trump is close, which is all the more reason to keep Harris out of the spotlight, he said.
“Harris is pre-recording that interview today because, of course, she was never going to be allowed to live alone in front of a camera,” he said of the segment that will air later Thursday night.
He said he would benefit from having “his emotional support dog, Tim Walz,” there to “pet him and make him feel good.”

Shapiro made the comparison again when he again discussed Harris’s alleged reluctance to give interviews.
He claimed she brought Walz along to divert attention from her.
“It’s amazing, the human centipede of the Democratic media,” Shapiro said. “They’re trying to proclaim that this is nothing new.
‘After all, when a presidential candidate chooses a vice president, very often they do some kind of joint interview: Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney did a joint interview, Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine, it’s quite normal.
‘The difference is that, normally, the person who is running for president has given some interviews before being a candidate.
“Kamala Harris has not given any public interviews before she was nominated or after she was nominated, it seems,” Shapiro noted.
‘The reason you bring Tim Walz in is to make the most of your time.’
She added: ‘She hopes that the Dana Bash on CNN will make the interview all about their relationship… and how they’re really nice, how they’re going to work together in the White House and avoid all the trouble.

“And if there is a problem, again the corgi jumps up and starts riding Dana Bash’s leg, presumably,” the curator continued jokingly.
“This is how they expect this interview to work.”
The sit-down interview, announced as ‘The First Interview: Harris and Walz, CNN Exclusive’ – was recorded in Savannah, Georgia.
It will provide a rare look at Harris’s positions and plans for the presidency.
