‘Whistler, that’s what I call them!’: Conor McGregor insists Michael Chandler’s shots will ‘whistle’ when they fight, as UFC stars trade verbal jabs in the first episode of The Ultimate Fighter

  • McGregor and Chandler lead teams on new Ultimate Fighter series
  • The two UFC stars are set to square off in the octagon later this year
  • When they met, McGregor said the American’s shots would “whistle through”

The new streak of The Ultimate Fighter began in typical Conor McGregor fashion, as the Irishman got into a heated exchange with rival trainer Michael Chandler.

The two UFC fighters lead teams in the new series before facing each other later this year – with a date and location yet to be revealed by organizers.

It will be McGregor’s first time in the octagon since badly breaking his leg in a fight with Dustin Poirier and many have wondered if he will still have his strong confidence.

Well, it looks like he definitely will after a clip from the first episode of The Ultimate Fighter was released, where the “Notorious” can be seen upsetting Chandler.

Earlier this month, footage from the first episode showed the two UFC stars meeting face to face. In this clip, McGregor said he would “pin” his rival.

However, in this new music videoMcGregor tells Chandler the American’s shots will “whistle” when they share the octagon.

In the video, the two fighters discuss the UFC Apex – which was the arena used throughout COVID as a safety protocol, with no fans present.

“Have you ever fought in the Apex?” asked McGregor. ‘No? Me neither. I would have liked.

Chandler replied, ‘Really?’. McGregor then fired back: “Yeah, no sound. Imagine the sound of my punches without a crowd. You would hear them up close.

“Imagine my photos without crowds,” Chandler replied. “Yes, whistling. Your shots whistle, but yeah,” McGregor replied with a smirk on his face.

The Irishman began to imitate the sound of punches flying past his face as he laughed, Chandler standing a few feet away from him.

“Come on man,” pleaded the American. “A whistler, that’s what I call them,” McGregor quickly replied.

The American appeared shaken by McGregor’s comments but managed to utter: “Hey, but if he lands….” before the clip was cut.

In the first clip to emerge from the episode, McGregor paced around in a sharp suit, seemingly unsure of pushing Chandler as the American tried to keep his composure and stay out of what he was later called “verbal ju-jitsu”.

‘What was Mystic Mike’s prediction?’ McGregor asked Chandler with a smirk.

“Second-round knockout,” Chandler replies. “Hit it with the tough ones in the first.

“Keep dreaming buddy, keep dreaming,” McGregor retorts. “Did I tell you how much it’s going to weigh?” 185. You will do as you are told. I will pin you. This is my game. This is my game forever.
