REVEALED: Conor McGregor could make a stunning return to the UFC at New York’s Madison Square Garden or the 100,000-seat AT&T Stadium in Dallas for his first fight since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in 2021
Dana White affirms that the long-awaited return of Conor McGregor to the UFC could take place at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The Irishman hasn’t fought since July 2021, when he was defeated by Dustin Poirier due to a nasty broken leg after kicking out his opponent.
It was revealed that McGregor will return against Michael Chandler later this year, but the specific date and venue have yet to be confirmed.
But UFC boss White has big plans in mind.
Speaking to Sports Business Journal, he revealed: ‘You can do Cowboys stadium, Madison Square Garden, obviously Las Vegas.
“We’re looking at all the different options.”
New York’s Madison Square Garden would hold about 21,000 fans, while the Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium has a maximum capacity of 100,000.
Both McGregor and Chandler face off as trainers on The Ultimate Fighter, with the pair expected to fight after the series’ conclusion.
McGregor lost his last two fights, both against Poirier, before his time on the sideline after his 2021 leg break.
McGregor, 34, has a 22-6 record in the UFC, while Chandler is 23-8.
