Conor McGregor has slammed Justin Gaethje, calling his UFC lightweight rival a “bird brain” and a “grade A jackass.”
The Irishman was an interested observer in Charles Oliveira’s loss to the American at UFC 274 over the weekend.
And he went on a spontaneous tirade on social media, taking a swing at Gaethje following his first-round submission loss in Phoenix.

McGregor wrote: ‘Gaethje is a jerk. The amount of outright dribbling he talks about as well. And again. A grade A idiot!
‘A bird brain with a bird brain manager. They are two idiots. He is. a donkey Stevo Ocrack’s recovering head should see if Johnny casts him.
Gaethje’s manager is Ali Abdelaziz, who previously managed McGregor’s great rival Khabib Nurmagomedov.
It seems the Dubliner was pleased to see that ‘The Highlight’ came up short in Saturday’s main event and was on everyone’s lips.
Both Michael Chandler and Charles Oliveira mentioned it in their post-fight interviews.
Gaethje came up short again in his title bid despite dropping Oliveira more than once
Chandler called him up and said, ‘I have a guy in mind, Conor McGregor! You have to go down to fight someone.
I’m the most entertaining lightweight on the planet. I want to up the stakes, Conor. I love you at your best, I love you at your best, and I love you at your best.
‘You and me, at 170, this summer, this fall, this winter.’
And within minutes, Notorious took to Twitter to provide a positive response, predicting a memorable contest.
He wrote: ‘I’d like to give this guy a good smack, no doubt. A fireworks show.
‘I like the 170 scream too. I turned it over. I’m definitely ready to fight this guy at some point in my career. I see what will happen after tonight.
‘Congratulations on a solid win Michael and another great storm.’
Oliveira is now technically the No. 1 contender instead of the champion and called out McGregor
Charles Oliveira also called out McGregor and it looks like the Irishman is weighing his options. He later wrote: ‘I’m not sure I want to lose weight. I really enjoy being built like a refrigerator.
‘I feel like I want to fight at this size just to see him back lol. But I would love to fight the Brazilian, 100 percent! I love Brazil and I am undefeated against Brazil. All KO’s. I have some things to think about.
McGregor remains a lucrative option for fighters even though some of his aura has disappeared in a one-win streak since 2016.
It will be fascinating to see who the UFC lines him up against when he returns from the broken leg he suffered last year.
